Terms and Conditions
Cyberdyne Systems, 3475 Portage Rd, Niagara Falls, Ontario L2J 2K5. These terms explain how buying from Cyberdyne works. They apply to every order and quote you place with us, in store or on cyberdyne.ca. By placing an order or asking for a quote, you agree to them. Please read them before you buy, and keep a copy with your invoice.
1Why Cyberdyne has the best warranty in Canada. Period.
Most big stores only look after you for a short time. After that, your broken item becomes a mail-in job to the manufacturer, and you wait. At Cyberdyne, we stay with you for the full length of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Covered for the full manufacturer warranty
- We deal with the manufacturer for you
- Free labour on warranty replacements
- No extended warranty needed
- No 1-800 numbers, no support tickets
- The same local team, start to finish
- Longer warranties covered in full
Amazon.ca gives you a 30 day return window. After that, warranty problems go to the manufacturer, and you deal with them yourself.
Most competitors give you a short return window, often just 15 to 30 days. After that, you are on your own. You have to open the warranty claim with the manufacturer yourself, provide the correct proof of purchase and serial number, fill out their forms, pack the item up, pay to ship it away, and wait weeks for it to come back.
At Cyberdyne, we do the warranty claim for you. Just bring the item, its box and your invoice to our store.
In both cases, once that short window ends, the manufacturer decides, and you wait for the item to come back. You bring it to our store at 3475 Portage Rd, you talk to the same people who sold it to you, and we take care of the manufacturer for you.
| Amazon.ca | Most competitors | Cyberdyne | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Return window | 30 days | Often 15 days | 20 days (see section 11) |
| Quick defect exchange | Within the 30 day return window | 30 to 90 days | We handle it for the full manufacturer warranty |
| After that | You deal with the manufacturer | You pack it and ship it to the manufacturer yourself, then wait | Bring it to our store; we deal with the manufacturer |
| Labour on a warranty replacement | Not stated | Most charge a small labour fee | Free |
| Who you talk to | Online help and the manufacturer | The manufacturer, on your own | The same local team, start to finish |
Comparison based on each store's public return and warranty pages, read on October 25, 2026. Their policies can change.
This level of service costs us real time and money: staff time, testing, paperwork with the manufacturer, and shipping. That is why some of our prices are a little higher than the biggest online stores. That small difference pays for people who look after you long after the sale.
2You do not need an extended warranty
Because we cover whatever the manufacturer covers, for as long as the manufacturer covers it, you do not need to buy an extended warranty from us or anyone else. If the manufacturer gives a 1 year, 2 year or 3 year warranty on a product, that is the length of time we look after it for you.
Longer warranties, covered in full. Many products we sell come with warranties much longer than normal. For example, memory (RAM) can be covered for 10 years or more, power supplies such as Thermaltake carry 5 to 10 year warranties depending on the model, and WD NVMe drives (SSDs) carry up to 5 years. Because Cyberdyne covers what the manufacturer covers, we look after these products for that full time, not just the first year. The exact length for each product is set by its manufacturer, and we are happy to tell you before you buy.
What the warranty covers (and does not cover) is set by the manufacturer. In most cases it covers parts that stop working on their own through normal use. It usually does not cover damage from drops, spills, power surges, misuse or opening the product yourself. If you are not sure whether something is covered, ask us and we will check with the manufacturer.
3Keep the original box and packaging
To use your warranty, keep the proper box and packaging the product came in, along with your invoice. Many manufacturers ask for the original box, the serial number label and proof of purchase before they will repair or replace an item. Without them, the manufacturer may refuse the claim, and we cannot change their decision.
4Refurbished products
Refurbished products come with a warranty of 90 days up to 1 year, depending on the product. Refurbished items are tested before they are sold, and we handle any warranty problem for you during that time, the same way we do for new products.
5After the first year
For new products with a manufacturer's warranty longer than one year, we still look after your claim after the first year. However, you may need to pay the shipping cost to send the item to the manufacturer and back. We will tell you the cost before we send anything.
6Labour on warranty replacements
Labour is covered on warranty replacements. If a covered part fails and we replace it for you, we do not charge for the work to remove the old part and put in the new one.
7Your data is your responsibility
The one exception to free labour is your data. A warranty covers the part, not the files stored on it. This is very important for SSDs, hard drives and any computer or device that stores your files.
- Please back up your files often, and always before you bring a device in for service.
- If a drive fails and you did not back up your data, there may be labour fees for us to try to move or recover your files.
- Data recovery is not always possible. We cannot promise that lost files can be brought back.
8Overclocking and water coolers
The rule is simple: Cyberdyne covers what the manufacturer covers. If the maker covers it, we handle the claim for you from start to finish. If the maker does not cover it, we cannot cover it either. Overclocking and water coolers are the two places where people get caught out most often, so here is what the makers actually say.
Overclocking means pushing a processor, memory or graphics card to run faster or at higher power than its normal factory settings. It makes parts run hotter and can damage them or shorten their life.
Water (liquid) coolers pump liquid through tubes inside your computer. If one leaks, the liquid can ruin the motherboard, graphics card, power supply and other parts. Whether those other parts are covered depends completely on the cooler maker.
| Maker | What their warranty says | What that means for you at Cyberdyne |
|---|---|---|
| AMD processors | Turning on overclocking does not void the warranty by itself, but AMD says the warranty "excludes any damage that results from overclocking/overvolting the processor." AMD's warranty also excludes damage from "improper use" and from using a cooler that does not meet AMD's specifications. | A normal defect is covered. Damage caused by overclocking or overvolting is not covered. |
| Intel processors | Intel's processor warranty guide says: "Altering clock frequency or voltage may void any product warranties and reduce stability, security, performance, and life of the processor and other components." Intel also says it may be able to detect changed clock speeds or voltages when it checks a claim. | A normal defect is covered. Damage caused by overclocking is not covered. |
| Intel Arc graphics cards (Intel brand) | Overclocking with Intel's own graphics software "does not void the warranty," but Intel warns it "can damage the card, shorten its lifespan or make the system unstable." Arc cards made by other brands (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and others) follow that brand's own rules. | Covered the way Intel or the card's brand covers it. We check the rules for your exact card. |
| NZXT Kraken water coolers | If a Kraken cooler leaks because of a defect, NZXT's stated policy is to "replace or refund the cost of the cooler as well as any damaged components." NZXT reviews each claim and may keep the damaged parts. Each claim is decided case by case and is not guaranteed; NZXT's warranty page also says it is not liable for incidental or consequential damage. | We file the claim with NZXT for the cooler and the damaged parts, and keep you updated. |
| Thermalright water coolers | Thermalright lists its liquid coolers with a "3-6 Years Limited Warranty (Leakage Damage Compensation)." It does not spell out exactly what the compensation includes. | We file the leak claim with Thermalright and get you whatever they approve. |
| Corsair water coolers | Corsair does not publish a clear leak-damage promise. Owners report that Corsair looks at leak damage to other parts case by case, as long as the cooler was not tampered with. | We file the claim with Corsair. What is covered is Corsair's decision. |
| Other water cooler brands | Many brands only repair or replace the cooler itself, and exclude water damage and "incidental or consequential damage" to other parts. | We check the brand's rules before you buy, if you ask. |
Based on each maker's published warranty terms and public statements, checked October 25, 2026. Makers can change their warranties at any time.
Fan (air) cooler or water cooler: which is better?
For most computers, a good fan cooler is as good as a water cooler, and it is more reliable. Here is why.
| Water (liquid) cooler | Fan (air) cooler | |
|---|---|---|
| Moving parts | A pump, liquid, tubes, a radiator and fans. More parts means more things that can fail. | Just a fan on a metal heatsink. The fan is cheap and quick to replace. |
| Over time | Liquid slowly escapes through the tubing. After a few years, air gets into the system, the pump starts to gurgle, and the CPU runs hotter. Many water coolers work their best for only about 3 to 4 years and decline after that. | Nothing to dry out or fill with air. A good fan cooler often outlasts the rest of the computer. |
| When it fails | It can fail quietly. If the pump dies or fills with air, the radiator fans can keep spinning, so everything looks normal. The computer keeps starting and running, but the CPU overheats, slows itself down, freezes or crashes. People often run like this for weeks without knowing. We see this a lot in our shop. | It fails loudly and safely. The motherboard watches the CPU fan. If the fan stops, most computers stop at start-up with a "CPU fan error" warning, so you know right away, before damage is done. |
| Leaks | A leak can damage the motherboard, graphics card and power supply. Coverage for those parts depends on the cooler maker (see the chart above). | No liquid, so nothing can leak. |
| Cooling power | Can help on the hottest, top-end processors, especially when overclocked. | A quality fan cooler handles nearly every normal home, office and gaming computer. |

Our advice: leak claims are slow, every maker has different rules, and they usually want the damaged parts sent in. Even when a leak is covered, you can be without your computer for weeks. That is why Cyberdyne recommends a good air cooler for most computers: there is no liquid to leak. If you want to overclock, ask us first so you know exactly what you are risking.

11Returns and refunds
You can return an item up to 20 days from the date on your invoice. After 20 days, we cannot accept returns.
Custom and special order parts that we order in for you may not be returnable, because the supplier may not take them back. Cyberdyne cannot be responsible for returning a custom order part that the supplier will not accept. Please ask us before you order if you are not sure.
Returns and refunds have a restocking fee of 15% to 20% of the price paid. The fee covers our cost to check, repack and restock the item.
Please bring back the item with its original box, packaging, all parts and your invoice. Problems covered by warranty are handled under the warranty sections above, not as a return.
